The Norwegian trio "In The Country" represents the reconciliation of tradition and experiment, individuality and accessible listening experience, and of jazz and rock in a way never heard before. Pianist Morten Qvenild made himself a name in particular as the musical accompanist of Solveig Slettahjell. And already in doing so he made it quite clear what his, and ultimately also “In The Country's” outstanding uniqueness is founded on: hardly any other band masters the art of reduction and making stillness audible as masterfully as they do, and plays so differently than the others in such a subtle way.
