Siggi Loch receives „Basisten“ award from Swedish Jazz Association
Berlin / Gävle, 2023-05-15 ACT founder Siggi Loch has received the “Basisten” award from the Swedish Jazz Association for his support of Swedish jazz. The award was presented to Loch by chairman Gunno Sandahl on May 13th at the Svensk Jazz Meeting in Gävle. Since 1993 the Basisten award is given to personalities who have shaped and supported jazz from Sweden..
The jury states:
For many decades Siggi Loch and his co-workers have acted as Europe's, and perhaps the world's largest independent record company in jazz. He is an entrepreneur - patron - philanthropist, with a big heart. A driving spirit who has put Swedish jazz on the international scene. His love for Swedish jazz was born in the 1960s when he came into contact with the music written by Jan Johansson, Georg Riedel and Bengt Arne Wallin. Since then, he has signed countless Swedish artists to ACT. In 2010, he was awarded the Royal Order of the Polar Star for his efforts for Sweden or Swedish interests. Siggi Loch is a truly worthy recipient of the award Basisten.
